1st Day of School
Monday, August 29th - Minimum Day
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! My name is Dennis Perry and I am the new principal of Jane Addams Middle School home of the Bengals on the pathway to success! I am proud and excited to be a part of this school. This school has an excellent staff that is highly focused on student achievement. We are dedicated to accomplishing our mission which is to ensure that each and every student is college and career ready in order to meet the demands of the 21st century. At Jane Addams we believe that Academics, Attitude, and Attendance are the cornerstone foundations of success.
This school year our instructional focus will be based on strong implementation of the common core standards which will require students to use critical thinking, collaboration, innovation, problem-solving, and creativity as the most prominent means of demonstrating their learning. Our teachers are undergoing various trainings and staff development in best practice instructional strategies for the common core and 21st century schools. In addition to that we are focusing on PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) in order to focus on creating the conditions for positive student behavior and rewarding students for making good choices in the classroom and on campus.
Furthermore, we are in the process of developing and improving our STEM program that encourages college and career interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are developing our 1:1 technology initiative this school year and building a 21st century library/media center as well.
Thank you for visiting our website and please continue to visit us on our website and here at Jane Addams if you have any questions or concerns. We are very proud of this school and I look forward to working with the staff, parents, students and community to make Jane Addams Middle School one the best middle schools in the nation! If you would like to speak with me please do not hesitate to contact me at: 310-676-4806 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I am looking forward to an awesome school year filled with the highest levels of learning, achievement, and success! Go Bengals!
Congratulations to three 7th grade girls who were awarded a $900 scholarship each to attend a week-long science/math/technology camp at a university. The girls were nominated by their teachers and then had to apply and interview. The girls were recognized and awarded at the School Board meeting on May 17th. This opportunity is possible due to the efforts of the AAUW. Thank you!
JAMS Sharefest was another huge success. Click here to see pictures from the work day!
Family Science turned out to be a great event! All parent and student participants had a great time and experienced some fun science!
